Dear Diane, Pat, Dave and Kim,
My Mother has both called me and also mailed me the notice of your Dad’s death to my home in California. She knows how much your family will always mean to mine and that I’d want to know about the passing of such an exceptional man. It is good to learn more about his extraordinary life.
Our childhood days on Thurston Road are far behind us all but reading about your Dad’s many accomplishments, passions and generosity reminded me why all of my memories of living side by side for all those years are good ones. I’ve even managed a smile remembering the time my young teen brother Chuck delivered cold beers to your Dad and mine as they stood talking under the apple trees in our backyard one hot summer afternoon. Your Dad was very grateful and gave that bright-eyed smile of his — but did suggest to my brother that next time he’d prefer his without ice!
I hope that the days ahead will bring you nothing but happy memories of your Father’s well-lived life. I’m sorry that I could not have been there to help honor him. I wish you and yours all peace and happiness in the days and years ahead.
Fondly,
Jeffry Walker
