Jane Morton Kline, age 89, formerly of Erie and Waterford, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Edinboro Manor where she resided only the last two weeks. Born August 12, 1922 in McKean, she was a daughter of the late Glenn Dexter Morton and Sara Anderson Morton.

Kline, Jane MortonMrs. Kline was a graduate of McKean High School and the Erie Business Center. She had been employed at General Electric and also Fort LeBoeuf School District, where she retired in 1986 after working 28 years as a secretary. She was an active member of the Washington Valley Christian Church where she formerly served as Deaconess, Treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. She also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Fort LeBoeuf Historical Society where she frequently volunteered at the Judson House.

After her retirement, Mrs. Kline enjoyed going to her local Senior Center in Erie, and her favorite pastime became square dancing and ballroom dancing.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Alvin (Jim) Kline who died in 1963; two grandchildren, Brian and Diana Kline, a daughter-in-law, Jan Kline, and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Morton.

She is survived by two sons, James Kline and wife Becky of Painesville, OH, and Dennis Kline and wife Ramona of West Lake, OH; a daughter, Shirley Benjamin and husband Richard of Rifle, CO; a brother, Carlyle Morton of Erie; and 18 grandchildren: Lori Goff (Dave), Lisa Pennington, David Kline, Rob Kline, Ed Link (Susan), Amy Sullivan (Michael), Nick Link and Debbie Cimperman (Greg), Debbie Kline, Scott Kline, Brian Kline and Michelle Jarae, and Sheilah Dauson (Brian), Rick Dauson (Dea), Tammie Van Holland (Ted), Richard Benjamin Jr., Shawn Benjamin (Valerie) and Alan Benjamin; 35 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a dear family friend, Susan Kahlbaugh (William).

Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm and may attend funeral services there on Friday morning at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Duane Pinney of the Washington Valley Christian Church. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery.
