Marjorie Elaine Batuski, age 85, of Cambridge Springs, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Cambridge Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing Center from declining health.

Batuski, Marjorie ElaineShe was born in Cambridge Springs on March 18, 1927, a daughter of the late Carl and Mabel Fish Waterhouse. Marjorie married John Batuski on April 28, 1948 in Crossingville, PA and shortly after their marriage they moved to a farm at RD#2, Cambridge Springs. They resided there until John’s passing on September 7, 2001.

Marjorie attended the Isherwood and Drakes Mills one room school houses and graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1946. She worked at a local grocery store in Cambridge Springs as a teenager and continued part-time for several years.

Marjorie was an avid reader and a dedicated and loving home maker- raising six children and helping with the farm work. She often helped in the fields, kept a large garden, and made excellent pies that her family greatly appreciated. She was an Avon Representative for more than 30 years traveling regularly to many homes in the area. Marjorie converted to Roman Catholicism in the 1950’s and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs. She served on the St. Anthony’s Ladies Aid Committee for many years.

Marjorie is survived by her six children – David (Shellie) Batuski of Orono, ME; Carl Batuski of Cambridge Springs; Barbara (Robert) Mang of Cambridge Springs; Kerry (William) Lewis of Kennesaw, GA; James (Pamela) Batuski of Cambridge Springs; and Michael (Dorothy) Batuski of Erie; seven grandchildren – Lisa and Aimee Batuski; Richard (Kris) Gosnell and Stacy (Jim) Davis; Mark Lewis and Elaine (Branndon) Self; Michael (Heather) Batuski. Also surviving are six great grandchildren; a brother – Carl (Toshi) Waterhouse of Tucson, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband and two infants; two sisters – Frances Thomas and Anita Merritt; and a brother – Clifford Waterhouse.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs and are invited to attend a vigil prayer service at 3:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend David Paulson, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mitchell Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 165 Beach Avenue, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403, to Southern Care Hospice, 16039 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, PA 16335, or a charity of one’s choice made in her name.
