Jane R. Kashner, age 80, former long time resident of Saegertown, PA, died suddenly Monday, March 5, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, PA. She was admitted from Wesbury United Methodist Community where she lived since December 22, 2012. Born on July 20, 1931, Jane was raised and attended schools in the Harmonsburg and Saegertown areas. She married Frank Lloyd Kashner on April 19,1949 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 1997. Together they worked on eleven different dairy farms as farm hands over a 28 year span of time. For the next 18 years, beginning in 1977, she was employed by the Dairy Herd Improvement Association doing milk sampling and record keeping. She worked there for 18 years until her retirement in 1995.
Jane had a gift of writing – mostly about her early years of growing up on a farm, describing how things were back in those days. On occasion some of her articles were printed in the Meadville Tribune. She loved horses, Cocker Spaniel dogs, and enjoyed travel in the United States.
Jane has no known survivors, but leaves behind a close friend, Richard Aguilera, who lives In Venango Township. According to Jean’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. She was buried next to her husband in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
