Virginia M. Blasco Abbott, age 80, of Edinboro, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at UPMC Hamot. Born December 25, 1931 in Erie, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Ignator Blasco.
Virginia was retired after many years of employment as office manager at Meadville Sandblasting. She enjoyed taking care of her many pets, volunteering her time at the Albion carousel, and truly enjoyed her gardening.
Most of all, Virginia loved her family and was happiest when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were together for family gatherings which would always become memorable celebrations.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Abbott, and a daughter, Linda J. Tanner, who both died in 1994.
Family survivors include three sons- Donald J. Abbott and his wife Vickie of Edinboro, Robert A. Abbott and his wife Susan of Cambridge Springs, and Thomas A. Abbott and his wife Sally of Lancaster, CA; three daughters- Virginia L. Zomcik and her husband Gregory of Waterford, Barbara E. Abbott of Edinboro, and Cristy L. Spieker and her husband John of Cambridge Springs; also, 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
No public calling hours will take place. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Edinboro. Memorials may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
