Lucille Holowach Hobson, age 73, resident of 805 Lura Road, Cambridge Springs, PA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Born in Venango Township, Crawford County, PA, Lucille was the oldest child of the late Stephen Holowach and Fannie Morris Holowach.
Lucille lived all of her life in the Cambridge Springs area and graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1956. She married Thomas Gregory Hobson and they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 14th. A home maker, Lucille supported her husband in his work as an Athletic Director and Coach and was dedicated to raising their five children. She was exceptionally skilled in baking and cooking. In the late 1970’s Lucille, together with her husband, became charter members of the Cambridge Area Volunteer Ambulance Service and spent considerable time in the operation of the service. Lucille was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs and was a friend to many.
In addition to her husband, Tom, she is survived by five children – Thomas Gregory (Greg) Hobson of Cambridge Springs; Terrance Patrick Hobson and his wife, Lisa of Gainesville, VA; John (Jack) Stephen Hobson and his wife, Kathy of Cambridge Springs; Bryan Michael Hobson and his wife, Julie of Cambridge Springs; and Michelle Yvonne Wetzel and her husband, Steve of Spring, TX. In addition, there are 14 grandchildren surviving – Rayne, Tara, Glenn, Erin, Sarah, Karen, Larry, Joel, Joshua, Allison, Bradley, Corey, Michael, and Samantha as well as 5 great grandchildren – Kristina, Jackson, Bennett, Aaron, and Hayden. A brother – Stephen Holowach, Jr and his wife, Marlene of Ashburn, VA and two sisters -Carol Sherman and her husband, Keith of Petersburg, IL and Patricia Dubbs and her husband, Chris of Edinboro are among survivors.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend Prayer Vigil Services at 8:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday at 10:00 am. Reverend David Poulson, pastor of the Church and Reverend Mark Hobson, nephew of the deceased, will be co-celebrants. Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or Alzheimer’s Association, 1128 State Street, Erie, PA 16501.
Coach Hobson – I was so saddened to hear of your wife’s passing. I have many fond memories of the both of you back in the 60’s! I hope the memories of the good times will bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.
