John J. Buettner, age 49, of LeBoeuf Township, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Born in Jamestown, NY on October 14, 1962, he is the son of Myrna Elizabeth Driscoll Otteni of Waterford, and the late Harry L. Buettner.
John attended Fort LeBoeuf Schools and graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1981. He lived in Georgia for several years until moving back to Waterford in 2005, and he has been employed as both an auto mechanic and a construction worker. John enjoyed shooting pool and belonged to the Lakeside Tavern Pool League in Waterford, and he liked to play horseshoes.
Preceding him in death was his father, Harry L. Buettner, and his brother, Harry Chris Buettner.
Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Gorton of Erie; two granddaughters, Trinity and Analise; his mother, Myrna Elizabeth Otteni; four siblings– Randy Buettner and his wife Sharon of Erie, Teri Flagg and her husband Mike of Tupelo, MS, Kurt Buettner of Waterford, and Valery Buettner, also of Waterford; his girlfriend, Laura Huff of Waterford; and his step-mother, Mary Ann Buettner of Westfield, NY.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Rob Willert of the Mill Village Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
