Louise Marian Chase, age 96, passed away peaceably at her home in Waterford on Saturday, August 4, 2012. Born on November 28, 1915 in Waterford Township, she was a daughter of the late Ray Owens and Minnie Wade Owens and was a lifelong resident of Waterford.

Chase, Louise MarianLouise married Orville William Chase on April 27, 1940 and he preceded her in death on December 20, 1993. She graduated from the Waterford Vocational School in 1934, and most of her life was a home maker, but she was employed in the Fort LeBoeuf School District as a cafeteria food preparer for over 30 years. A member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Louise was recognized as one of the oldest members and was active there in the Women’s Society. In younger years, Louise was a girl scout leader. Her memberships included being a charter member of the Waterford Lioness Club, a member of American Chapter #19 of the Order of Eastern Star in Waterford, and the Waterford Golden Age Club. Louise was well known by her family and friends for her baking, especially peanut butter cookies and coconut cr???e pies.

Surviving Louise are two daughters – Brenda Jones of Waterford, and her children- Staci Wright and husband Rick of Wattsburg, and Chad Fries of Waterford; and Barbara Mitchell Stull and her husband Sam of McKean, and children- Michele Carniewski and husband Rich of Millcreek, and Matthew Mitchell of Erie. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren- Josh and Jacob Carniewski, and Jenna and Haylee Wright; her sister Dolores Keefer and husband Sam of Waterford; two nephews- Dean Keefer and wife Margo of Erie, and Lewis Weingard and wife Paula of Tionesta; a niece- Nola Lyons and husband Pat, also of Tionesta; and last but not least, her cat Elsie.

Louise was preceded in death by a grandchild, Shelbi Fries; a great-grandchild, Rayna Fries; and a nephew, Danny Keefer.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Asbury United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Gary Donaldson, pastor of the Church, officiating. Interment will be in Waterford Cemetery.
