Daniel Arthur Dillon, Sr., age 65, passed away soon after being admitted on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA. Born on August 30, 1947 in Franklin, PA, Daniel was a son of the late John Dillon and Lucy Cutlip Dillon. He married the former Kaye Mack on March 9, 1985 and she survives.
Daniel served with the US Army from 1966 until 1972 spending three tours of duty in the Viet Nam War. A member of American Legion Post #368 of Titusville, he was active with Boy Scout Troop #97 in Hydetown and enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, and archery. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving Daniel in addition to his wife, Kaye, of Cambridge Springs; are three daughters – Nicole Brooks of Florida; Lynnette Dippel and her husband, Brian of Lake City; and Milissa Enders; a son – Rick Enders of Cleveland, OH; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters – Mae Enders and her husband, Tim and Violet Fera and her husband, Ray; and a brother – Jack Dillon and his wife, Wanda. Preceding him in death was a son – Daniel Dillon, Jr., who died in 2007; two grandsons – Rick Haag and Tyler Haag; and a brother – Gary Dillon.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs, 335 Venango Ave., on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and are invited to attend funeral services there on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Nigel Probert, pastor of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Cambridge Springs, will officiate. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the family.
My grampa Dan was more then I could have ever expected and he always supported me in anything i was trying to accomplish. He mentored me in construction and we both did some work together. Pappy, you know, I was really sad and heartbroken with you being gone. I know you are in a better place… You did so many things for people out of the kindness of your heart. I talked with you in my dreams and I know your in heaven i LOVE YOU VERY MUCH, and hopefully we’ll meet again someday, until then I will keep striving to better my life and remember all the times we had folllowing in your footsteps and being kind. Dan was a great mentor to many of our Boy Scouts. He will be greatly missed by Troop 97, kids and adults alike. He always had a funny story, a smile to share, and a camera. We will miss you, Dan.
