Cecil E. Miller, age 74, resident of 21792 Cussewago Street, Venango, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center, Grove Street, Meadville, PA after a long illness. Born on January 8, 1938 in Columbia, SC, Cecil was a son of the late Albert Miller and Etta McGrady Miller. He married the former Rose M. Mazzotta and she survives.
Cecil made a career of the military serving more than 34 years, first with the US Army for three years and then with the National Guard for 31 years, retiring in 1989. In 1973, while still in the reserves, he worked in the maintenance and repair department at Edinboro University and retired in 2003. In earlier years he operated M & I Auto Shop in Venango for several years.
Cecil enjoyed fishing and working on small cars. He also enjoyed fishing and watching baseball and football.
In addition to his wife, Rose, Cecil is survived by a daughter – Tonia Layton and her husband, Robert of Venango; two grandchildren – Brigid Winsor and Cort Winsor, both of Venango; six sisters – Judy, Dolly, Elise, Elsie, Cathy, and Janie and five brothers – Bob, Ruffie, Lavern, Jerome, and Odis.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs and will be officiated by Reverend David Poulson. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
Memorials may be given the American Cancer Society, Crawford Unit, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335-2975.

Uncle Cecil, you will be missed by so many, but you are in Heaven now with the one’s who have gone on before you. I can just see you and Granddaddy haveing a great time there along with Grandma.
