David A. Powell, age 71, passed away at his home in Waterford on September 22, 2012. He was born in Erie on March 24, 1941, son of the late Bailey and Kathryn Middleton Powell.

After high school he worked as a carpenter for Orie and Harold Mack and Don Gradler, and he built his own home. He then went to work at United Parcel Service driving package truck and semi, retiring after 31 years of service.
David loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and woodsman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Nancy, and an older brother, Bill Powell in 2008.
David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Darlene Borland Powell; his son Keith Powell and grandchildren, Austin and Carley, all of Lutz, FL; his daughter, Jennifer Powell Thor, and son-in-law Erik Thor of Waterford, and his very special grandson and sidekick, Cody Powell, also of Waterford. After fighting illness for the past 12 years, Dave’s wishes were to not observe any calling hours. A memorial service will be announced at a future date.
