Chris A. Labonowski Massung, age 58, resident of 24290 State Highway #99, Cambridge Springs, PA died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at her home. A daughter of the late Leo Labonowski and Alice Smith Labonowski, Chris was born in Fort Sill, OK on August 27, 1954. On June 17, 1972, she married Richard Massung and he survives.

Massung, Chris A. LabonowskiFollowing graduation from Cambridge Springs High School with the Class of 1972, Chris attended Edinboro University and graduated with a degree in nursing in 1989. For eight years, Chris provided in-home day care and then working at Meadville Medical Center as an RN until 1993. She next served as the director of nursing at Cambridge Springs State Correctional Institute until 2003. Chris worked at Cambridge Springs Rehab and Nursing Center until 2008 and at Edinboro Manor before retiring in 2010. Chris was a member of the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church in Cambridge Springs and had taught Sunday School. She was a former member of Cambridge Area Volunteer Ambulance Service and enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting, and baking wedding cakes. Chris was named the 2008 Crawford County 4-Star Homemaker. She enjoyed her dogs – Gabby and Jazz – and spending time with her grandchildren.

Preceding Chris in death besides her parents, was her mother-in-law – Irene Massung. She is survived by a sister – Terri Gregg and her husband, Larry of Lakeland, FL and a brother – Steven Labonowski of Cambridge Springs; two children – Tracy Morrison and her husband, Ed of Cambridge Springs and Jeff Massung and his wife, Tammy of Meadville; five grandchildren – Amanda Joslin and her husband, Isaiah of Cambridge Springs; Matt Schenberg of Saegertown; Morgan Schenberg of Saegertown; Jeffrey Massung of Spartansburg; and Amberlyn Morrison of Cambridge Springs; and a great granddaughter – Alivia Joslin of Cambridge Springs.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held there on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Nigel Probert, pastor of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Cambridge Springs, officiating. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
