Donald F. Post, age 84, of Waterford, passed away at Saint Vincent Health Center on Sunday, January 6, 2013, just two and a half weeks after his wife died. He was born in Centerville on July 22, 1928, to the late Harrison and Velma Davenport Post. He married Pauline C. Post on April 2, 1954 and she died December 19, 2012.

Post, Donald F.Don served in the Korean War as a gunner with the 8th Army, 424th Field Artillery unit. With a strong work ethic, he was always a responsible provider for his family and took pride in whatever job he was doing. For many years, he worked for local farmers and was also employed at General Electric almost 30 years.

After retiring, Don enjoyed woodworking and was known for the fine quality picnic tables that he made and sold. He also enjoyed taking care of his property. Don was an active, longtime member of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene, and most of all, he was a devoted husband to his wife, Pauline.

Those that have preceded him in death include his wife, Pauline; his brother, Paul Post; a half sister, Nellie Brady, and a half brother, Ken Tracy; and a grandson– Ross Wilkins.

Surviving family members include five children– Karen Mallory and husband Jim of Fairview, and their children– Anita McManus (Mike), Justin Mallory, and Khristopher Mallory; Lawanda Wilkins and husband Dave of Corry, and their children– Ryan Wilkins, Robyn Wilkins, and Rachel Wilkins; Francis Post and wife Dale of Waterford, and their children– Randi Robertson-Frost (Chris) and Tabitha Robertson-Zeller (Chris); Elaine White and husband Kelly of Junction City, OH and their children– Carrie White and Rhiannon White; and Michael Post of Waterford.

He is further survived by three great-grandchildren– Mikey, Andy, and Brady; a sister, Lillian Eddy of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held there Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Gregory Jack of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
