Eleanora Gage, age 96, died at Edinboro Manor, Edinboro, PA on February 28, 2013 with her family by her side. She had been in declining health for some time. Born in Erie, PA on October 18, 1916, Elnora was a daughter of the late Albert and Minnie Degner Becker. After her graduation from Erie Academy High School, she attended Erie Business School where she met her beloved husband to be – George Gage. They were married on October 21, 1939 in Erie and then moved to Cambridge Springs. In 1957, the family moved to Orlando, FL where they owned and operated a mobile home park. In 1968, they returned to Cambridge Springs and she was employed part-time at the Edinboro IGA until her retirement.

Gage, EleanoraNora, as she was fondly called, was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Drakes Mills and served on the Altar Society for many years. Her greatest pleasure was in caring for her family and friends. An avid reader, Nora spent much of her free time with books, even until her older years.

Nora’s survivors include two daughters – Judith Wolfe and her husband, Gale of Cambridge Springs and Jane Johnson of Fort Washington, MD; grandchildren – Scott and Lisa Wolfe of Cambridge Springs; Gregory Wolfe and his companion, Jacqueline Leonard of Union City; Suzanne Lagman of St. Petersburg, FL; and Amy and Brian DeMarr of Easton, NY; great grandchildren – Chad Wolfe and his wife, Jennifer. Brent Wolfe and his companion, Brittany Tidd; Gage Lagman, Amanda Lagman; Tommy Lagman; Alyssa Mosely; Neven Mosely; Michael Mosely; and Norah DeMarr; and two great great grandchildren – Hailey Wolfe and Jayden Wolfe. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Nora was preceded in death in addition to her parents and her husband, George, who died January 18, 1993, by four sisters – Bertha Wheeler, Florence Magenau, Helen Conover, and Dorothy Morrell; and by a brother – Carl Becker.

Friends may call at the Van Matre family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Drakes Mills with, Reverend Brian Riddle, pastor of the Church, officiating. Interment will be in Drakes Mills Cemetery.

Nora’s family would like to thank the staff of the Edinboro Manor for the tender loving care they gave her for the three years she lived there.
