Anna M. Zeitz, age 94, resident of Waterford since 2004 and formerly of the Cleveland area, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at her home. Born September 6, 1918 in Port Clinton, OH, she was one of seven children of the late Maurice Talbot Gunn and Anna Stella Murphy Gunn.
Anna was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She married Joseph Reinhard Zeitz on August 21, 1937, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2005. Together they raised two daughters and over their 67 years of marriage, made many memories including summers spent at Lake Pleasant in Venango Township.
Anna enjoyed reading, and even in her later years she would read a book a week, often a mystery novel, and would remain informed by reading the newspaper regularly. She was blessed with creativity, and her skills were evident in her creations made by counted cross-stitching, crocheting and sewing. As a #1 fan of Disney and Cinderella, Anna made several trips to Disney World, the last being just last year. She felt most comfortable being at home where she watched the birds and, for several years, enjoyed a special friendship with her dog, Mitzi.
In addition to her husband Joseph, Anna had six siblings that predeceased her: Daniel, Charles, Gilbert, Louis, and Eugene Gunn, and Mildred Gunn Volanti. Her daughters remain to mourn her loss– Sister Joanne M. Zeitz SND of Chardon, OH and Karen M. Zeitz of Waterford, with whom Anna lived. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews survive.
Visiting hours will be at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be there Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Sister Donna Marie Daniels SND of Safety Harbor, FL. Burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Anna’s memory to the A.N.N.A. Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
Grandma,
I didn’t get much time to spend with you but I love you and you were always apart of my heart. You have a great grandchild now, her name is Zoey Noella, She’s beautiful. I am very sad that myself, my father, and my brother were not mentioned in this obituary notice, same as my granpa zeitz. I love and miss you both and my heart will always miss you.
What a blessing to have and enjoy your mother for so long. She was blessed to have such an attentive, loving, caring daughter. You should rest knowing how well you took care of your mother.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:7
