Davida Colleen Pierce, age 86, resident of 14395 State Hwy # 19, Cambridge Springs, PA, died shortly after being admitted to UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie on Thursday, August 8, 2013. Born in Garwin, Iowa on March 21, 1927, Davida was a daughter of the late Carver and Ventura Haines. She married John Pierce on March 3, 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1961.

Pierce, Davida ColleenDavida did housekeeping work both for businesses and private homes for many years. A hobby of hers was collecting owl figurines and she had many displayed in her home.

Surviving Davida is a daughter – Joanne Colleen Anderson with whom she made her home for the past five years; six grandchildren – Art Anderson II, John Anderson, Timothy Anderson, Carol Jones, Tanya Bowman, and Mindy Reidorph. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; and six brothers – Lloyd, Gary, Monty Joe, Fred, Duane, and Jay. Davida was preceded in death in addition to her husband, John, by a daughter – Carol Ann Pierce and two sisters – Sandra and Joanne.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 and to funeral services at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Drakes Mills on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with the pastor of the Church, Reverend Brian Riddle, officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
