Freda A. Kelly, age 82, of Cambridge Springs, PA passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Edinboro Manor, Edinboro after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure and COPD. Born in Washington Township, Erie County on September 30, 1930, Freda was the daughter of the late Carl G. Walters and Velma Rose Blystone Walters. She lived all of her life in the Cambridge area.
Following her education at Drake Town School in Draketown, Freda worked at the Riverside Inn in Cambridge Springs for several years before becoming employed by Lang Electric / Teledyne Penn Union in Edinboro. She retired in 1987 as a machinist, after 35 years. Freda was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Cambridge Springs. She was fascinated with nature, enjoying the out-of-doors, fishing, and traveling short distances. She also enjoyed going to the casinos and working on plastic canvas crafts until her failing health limited these activities.
Freda is survived by her small family which includes – a daughter, Pam Batuski and her husband, Jim of Cambridge Springs; a great aunt – Millie Stauss of Cincinnati, OH; and her beloved little Boston terrier, “Suzie Q”. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and her devoted husband of 38 years – Austin Kelly, by her brother – Floyd Walters and a long-time friend – Richard Daniels. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend funeral services there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Venango Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Nigel Probert, pastor of the Christian & Missionary Church in Cambridge Springs.
