Francis “Frank” Kosienski, age 63 of McKean, died Friday, September 6, 2013 at Saint Vincent Medical Center after a short illness. One of seven children, he was born in Erie on February 19, 1950 to Cecelia Marcyanna Wilkosz Kosienski and the late Walter Joseph Kosienski.

Kosienski, Francis Francis grew up on his family’s farm in McKean, and after graduating from high school, entered the United States Army where he served for two years. After returning home to McKean, he worked for a couple of years at Gartner and Harf Meat Packing before beginning employment at General Electric. He was currently working there in his 39th year.

Francis was very family oriented and enjoyed any family gathering. His many interests included hunting, old movies, 50’s and 60’s music, gardening, and his dog “Peanut”.

He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Kosienski; his brother, Joseph Walter Kosienski; a brother-in-law, Gregory T. Culbertson; and a niece, Danielle R. Passerotti.

Surviving family members include his mother, Cecelia M. Kosienski; five siblings, all of McKean– Kathryn M. Culbertson, Theresa A. Wolfe and husband Merle, Bernadette S. Bird and husband Richard, Richard C. Kosienski, and Rebecca J. Passerotti and husband Kosienski, Francis Daniel; nieces and nephews– Joe and Gail Kosienski, Ben and Kim Kosienski, Marcie and Brian Scoles, Tricia and Andrew Stritzinger, Tom Culbertson, Lisa and Bryan Nothdurft, Jim Wolfe, Sara Wolfe, Jon and Jolene Bird, Rick and Sara Bird, Kim and John Smolinsky, and Matt and Lisa Passerotti; also 14 great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
