Arlene M. Babbitt, age 88, lifelong resident of Edinboro, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Edinboro Manor. Born in Washington Township on September 18, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Florence Andrews Showman.
Having grown up on a family farm, Arlene loved farming, horses and her pets. She was a homemaker and farmed in Washington Valley for many years after she married and before moving to Platea in 1969. Together with her late husband Raymond, Arlene had many horses and enjoyed frequent trail rides with friends and neighbors. They will both be remembered for driving their ponies and cart in the annual parade at the Albion Fair.
In addition to her husband, Raymond Babbitt, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Autumn Petrick.
Family members that survive include a son, David Babbitt and his wife Judy of Waterford, and a daughter, Judy Lakin and her husband Darrell of Smithfield, VA; six grandchildren– Kevin Babbitt and Jon Silverthorn, both of Platea, Kathryn Ferguson of Smithfield, VA, Stacy Kuntz and husband Scott of Albion, Laurie Burkholder and husband Eric of Chambersburg, PA, and Lori Bell and husband Dave of Cochranton, PA; and also nine great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend services officiated by Rev. Ron Kennedy at Draketown Christian Church, 12460 Draketown Road, Edinboro on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
