Melody A. DaValle, age 53, a lifelong resident of Waterford, died Friday, November 22, 2013 at UPMC Hamot after an extended illness. Melody was one of six children of the late Donald G. and Blanche E. “Bea” Honard DaValle. She was born in Erie on May 9, 1960.

DaValle, Melody A.Melody was a 1978 graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School. For many years she worked at Allied Aluminum and then later Blair Corporation until 2006 when she was not able to work due to her health. She was a member of the American Legion Post 285 Auxiliary in Waterford, and she had many interests including reading, crocheting, spending time with her family, helping others, and her dog “CeCe”. She enjoyed traveling and was able to go to Disney World and the Bahamas.

Preceding her in death was her parents, her uncle James DaValle, and her nephew Josh DaValle.

Family members that survive include her five siblings– Donald A. DaValle and wife Carolyn of Erie, Joyce DaValle of Waterford, John DaValle and wife Brenda of Charlotte, NC, and Helen Shamp and husband Tony, and Carol LaFlamme and husband Tim, all of Waterford; also, nieces and nephews– Belinda, Heidi, Carrie, Ryan, Jeremy, Denise and fianc??? Jerry Decker, TJ, and Caralee; and a great-niece, Hailey.

Friends are invited to visiting hours at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. There will be no funeral services and burial will be private in Waterford Cemetery.

The family suggest that memorials be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16501.
