Richard A. Houy, age 68, resident of Rockdale Township, Crawford County, PA, died Saturday, November 2, 2013. Richard was an extraordinary man who thought the world of his family. He loved spending time outside working in his garden and was a very avid sportsman. He enjoyed going to his grandson’s hockey games and taking him on 4-wheeler races. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife – Sandy, his daughter – Tina, his grandson – Kyle, and the family dog, Tyler.
Richard worked many years for the plumber and pipefitters Local Union # 47 of Erie spending several years working on the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Plant. He also worked numerous years at Allegheny College in the maintenance department and at SCI in Albion as a plumbing instructor, retiring after numerous years of service.
He served in the US Army and held memberships in Covenant Masonic Lodge #473 in Cambridge Springs, Waterford American Legion Post #285, and several other social clubs.
Surviving Richard is his wife ???? Sandy, who is the former Sandra Brown whom he married September 2, 1967; his daughter – Tina Skelton and his grandson – Kyle both of Union City; and his mother-in-law – Mae Brown of Union City. Additionally, Richard is survived by two brothers-in-law – Robert Brown and his wife, Diane of Union City and Daryl Brown and his wife, Karen of Cambridge Springs. Additionally, Richard is survived by three brothers – Ross Houy and his wife, Romona of IN; Ted Houy and his wife, Betty of AR; Bill Houy and his wife, Ilona of Glendale, AZ; and five sisters – Cathy Carpenter of Meadville; Lorraine Waida of Yorktown VA; Juanita Prior and her husband, Jay of Peoria, AZ; Delores Houy of Saegertown; and Koreen Duda of Cambridge Springs. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Richard in death in addition to his parents – William and Myrtle Howey Houy, was a brother – Clifford Houy and a sister – Bonnie Turner.
Funeral services will be private.

Sandy, That is a nice picture of Dick in the paper. We are here for you and always will be in our prayers. Dick and I spent many days together in Beaver Valley, which i will always cherish. We still have the pillows you made for our wedding. Please stay in touch with us and don’t hesitate to call or write anytime.
