On November 25, 2013, after a happy and loving life and a long fight against cancer, Fred Spotts of Waterford was taken home by his guardian angels. Fred smiled as he met Our Heavenly Father face to face. He sat down to a wonderful meal with his parents, Martin & Esther Spotts and his baby brother, Ronnie Spotts.
Fred shared with his loved ones many stories and caught them up on the lives of those he left behind. He spoke with love of his wife, Mavis (Hardy) and the 55 years they shared together. He regaled everyone with jokes and funny stories of his four children. Fred glowed as he explained and showed pictures of Darlene (husband, Jim) McCracken, East Hickory, PA and their seven children and 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; he beamed with pride when talking of the accomplishments of son Vail (and wife Sandy) Spotts, Waterford, PA and their two grandchildren; he kept everyone laughing with accounts of daughter Tina (and husband, Jeffrey) Metzler and their two daughters, Waterford, PA; and Fred’s blue eyes twinkled and his smile widened as he recounted events of youngest daughter Trude (and husband, Bob) Blount and their two daughters and three grandchildren, Waterford, PA.
Fred’s heart swelled with joy, love and pride as he joined in and sang baritone with God’s angelic choir. He was the eldest child of seven, and his beloved remaining siblings: Janice (George) Snoberger, Julian, PA; Philip (Marian) Spotts, Waterford, PA; Donna (Bill) Titus, Sherman, TX; Pauline Spotts, Julian, PA; and Lynn (Terri) Spotts, Mt. Dora, FL.
Fred was an honored Army Veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post #285, Waterford, PA. He was a member of and served several years as a Sunday School teacher and mentor at the Nazarene Church in Waterford, PA. Fred inspired his family & friends with his deep devotion and Christian faith and spoke eagerly to everyone about trusting & believing in God.
Fred was well-known for his quick wit, powerful hugs, and kind words of encouragement for all who he came in contact with. Even though his family and friends will sorely miss him, they are very happy that he is Home at last and no longer in any physical pain. His loving wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren kept Fred young at heart.
