Michael R. Bisbee, age 50, Waterford Township resident, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 12, 2013. Born in Rome, NY on December 17, 1962, Mike is the son of Dale Bisbee of Erie and Wanda Jones Landis of Waterford. He married Shannon Landis Bisbee in 1997 and she survives.
Mike graduated from Iroquois High School in 1981 and served in the United States Army for eight years until he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He was currently employed with the City of Erie as a Building Maintenance Supervisor. He worked there for almost 20 years and was a skilled carpenter. In high school, Mike was a wrestler, and while in the military, he was an accomplished boxer, winning many trophies. He really enjoyed anything outdoors–hiking, campfires, four-wheeling, swimming, gardening; and he loved animals and having unique animals for pets. Mike loved his wife and children and enjoyed holidays and family gatherings.
Family members that mourn his loss include his wife, Shannon Bisbee; children– Christina Al Shear and husband Zach of Colorado, Chris Bisbee of Erie, Cassandra Bisbee of Millcreek, Brandi Bisbee of Erie, and Destiny Bisbee and Hunter Bisbee, both of Waterford; his parents– Dale Bisbee and wife Sara of Erie, and Wanda Landis and husband Jerry of Waterford; a brother– Dale Bisbee II and wife Tanya, and a sister– Tammy Elder and husband Curt, all of Waterford; also, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to visiting hours at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place there Monday at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Greg Jack, pastor of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene.
