John W. Horoschuck, age 86, resident of Drakes Mills, Cambridge Springs, PA died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at his home after an extended illness. John was born on March 14, 1927 in Charleroi, PA as the first born of seven children to his late parents – John and Theda Peragrym Horoschuck. He married his sweetheart – Norma Jane Smith, on October 16, 1954.
John retired from Penn-Union Corporation in 1990 and had been previously employed at Marx Toy Factory. He served for 66 years as a congregation Elder with the Cambridge Springs Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was well known in the community as a minister of God’s Word. He enjoyed teaching the Bible, being outdoors, and spending time with his wife and friends. John will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Preceding John in death, in addition to his parents, were three siblings – Jean Robert and his wife, Sandra; Arnold Horoschuck; and Vera Horoschuck. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Norma Jane Smith; a sister-in-law – Lona Horoschuck; two brothers – Jerry M. Horoschuck and his wife, Valerie and Charles Horoschuck and his wife, Linda; and a sister – Eunice L. Horoschuck.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 414 McClellan Street, Cambridge Springs, on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with James L. Kingsley officiating.
The family gives special thanks to Hospice of Crawford County for their in-home care given. Memorials may be made to Cambridge Springs Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Klint and I are going to miss John so much! Thank Jehovah that we will see him again in the new world. Until that time may we all strengthen each other and survive the Great Day of Jehovah and be able to greet John back!
