Ruth M. Mosier, age 97, formerly a long time resident of 13440 Perry Lane, Edinboro, PA passed away at Edinboro Manor, Edinboro, PA on Thursday, January 23, 2014. She had been at the nursing home for the past three years. Ruth was born on January 10, 1917 in Washington Township, Erie County, PA, a daughter of the late Charles McLallen and Mary Edna Trow McLallen. She married Jonas W. Mosier on April 23, 1938 and he died on January 4, 1965.

Mosier, Ruth M.After graduating from Edinboro High School and being married, Ruth farmed with her husband until his death and then worked for Edinboro College in the cafeteria for several years. A person very active in Grange for over 75 years, Ruth held memberships in the National, State, and Pomona Granges. She was a past member of the Venango Grange and presently was a member of Edinboro Grange. She was a past member of Venango United Methodist Church and the Mosiertown Friendly Hobby Club. Highly skilled in quilting, Ruth was known as the” quilt lady”, making quilts for numbers of people.

Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by two daughters – Kathylene Anderson of Kane, PA and Janice Wood and her husband, Frank of Randleman, NC; a son – Donald L. Mosier and his wife, Carol of McKean; a daughter-in-law – Paula Mosier of Cambridge Springs; ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ruth in death in addition to her parents and husband was a son – Charles (Buz) R. Mosier; three grandsons – Karl Mosier, Kip Mosier, and an infant grandson. Also a son-in-law – Harold (Andy) Anderson and a daughter-in-law – Denise Mosier.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend funeral services there on Monday morning at 11:00. Reverend Jeff Bobin, pastor of the Venango United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to a charity of one’s choice.
