Robert Arthur Caldwell, age 61, born May 13, 1952, passed away at UPMC Hamot on Thursday, February 13, 2014 after a brief illness. He was a son of the late Robert L. and Dolores J. Beezub Caldwell, and husband of Beverly Testi Caldwell, whom he married March 25, 1974.

Caldwell, Robert ArthurBob, or Bobby, as his friends called him, was born in Union City and graduated from Academy High School in 1970. He retired from AMSCO in 2006 and was a member of the United Auto Workers 832. Bob had many pleasures in life including music, hunting, watching the wildlife in his front yard, and flying ultralights. Most recently, he flew a two-seater paraplane so he could share the experience.

Most of all, Bob loved his family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to watch his grandchildren, and took seriously his role of family historian by always remembering important dates and family history.

Bob is predeceased only by his parents, and leaves behind a family that will miss him very much– his wife of 40 years, Beverly Caldwell; his sons, Jason (Lisa) Caldwell of Erie, and Daniel (Shawnda) Caldwell of Union City; six grandchildren, Jackson, Layne, Jayden, Leah, Lincoln, and Larissa; his brothers and sisters, Lester Caldwell, Jeff (Shirley) Caldwell, and Robin (Timothy) Eicher, all of Erie, and Jennifer (Eric) Strong of McKean; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place Monday morning starting with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Parish, 11264 Rt. 97 North, Waterford. Rev. Fr. Thomas Whitman will be the celebrant.

The Caldwell family wishes to thank the staff of Saint Vincent Hospital and UPMC Hamot, Dr. Dunn, Fr. Murphy, and the first responders with Mill Village Fire Dept. and Emergycare.
