Lawrence Daniel Hanes, age 75, resident of 33101 State Hwy # 77, Centerville, PA died unexpectedly on Monday, February 24, 2014 at St. Vincent Heath Center, Erie, PA shortly after being admitted. Born on July 16, 1938 in Little Cooley, Athens Twp., Crawford County, Lawrence was a son of the late James” Orie” Hanes and Inez Watson Hanes. He married the former Doris Bell Humes on August 1, 1959 and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2009.

Hanes, Lawrence DanielLawrence was a road supervisor for Bloomfield Township from 1985 until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving Lawrence is a son – Dan Hanes of Little Cooley; three daughters – Doris “Sis” Oakes and her husband, Mike of Fairview; Sherry Showman of Erie, PA; and Debbie Higley and her companion, Jim Weaver of Fairview; a sister – Laura Humes of Little Cooley; and a brother – Wayne Hanes and his wife, Linda of Franklin. Additional survivors include grandsons – Aaron Hanes, Raymond Higley, and Michael Higley, granddaughters – Teressa and Dawn Humes, and grandson Jamie Humes. Proceeding Mr. Hanes in death, in addition to his wife, are two daughters -Connie Hanes and Karen Hanes, his sister – Katherine Moon and two grandsons-Eric Hanes and Dennis Hanes.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Thursday Feb. 27 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held. Reverend Ron Kennedy, pastor of Draketown Christian Church, will officiate.
