Barry Freeman Burdick, originally from Waterford, PA was born June 4, 1939 to Lawrence and M. Christina Bittles Burdick. “Chief” Barry Freeman Burdick, age 74, passed away from natural causes on March 5, 2014.
Mr. Burdick joined the United States Air Force in 1961 and served in various locations throughout the United States as well as overseas in Japan and Korea. After retiring in 1991 as Chief Master Sargent out of Keesler Air Base, he settled down in Gulfport, MS and worked at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College before eventually moving to Adrian, MI.
Mr. Burdick enjoyed the simple things in life, whether it was a friendly game of poker or a morning chat over coffee and donuts. His personal time was often spent surrounded by his friends, family and faithful dog, Annabelle.
Barry Burdick is survived by his sister, Barbara (Garry) Sargent; five children, Rebecca (David) Nutter, Stephanie (Brad) Heiple, Michael Burdick, Larry Burdick, Felicia (Scott) Aysenne; nine grandchildren, Darren (Autumn), Kelly (Corey), Joshua, Kristopher (Christy), Paige, Kayla, Christian, Kelsey, and Corbin; three great-grandchildren, Wesley, Dylan, Eliana; and five beloved nephews. He was a brother, uncle, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a good and faithful friend as well as a stand-up Air Force Officer who will be greatly missed by all who have known him.
Funeral services for Barry will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford, PA with his son-in-law, Reverend Brad Heiple officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Waterford Cemetery with full military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the American Legion Post 285 of Waterford, PA.
Im going to miss you dad , your wild sense of humor your mischievious grin and mostly your love for us children , my heart is broken but I know your in a better place and I can take comfort in that .
