Mona Buschak, 58, of Edinboro, PA was a strong, beautiful and courageous woman who passed away at home on March 23, 2014, surrounded by the ones she loved after a battle with cancer.
Mona was born November 19, 1955, in Meadville, PA, a daughter of Marjorie Burchard and the late Clair Burchard. She married James Buschak on February 16, 1980.
A graduate of Randolph East Mead High School, she obtained an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Gannon University. She worked at Sara Reed Children’s Center and then became director of Supportive Living Services of Erie. Mona was an active member of the community and was a former president and current member of the General McLane School District School Board. Mona had many hobbies such as spending time with her family, shopping with her two daughters and sisters, and attending community events. Mona was a caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mona was a member of McLane Church of Edinboro.
Survivors in addition to her loving husband, James of 34 years, include her three children – Andrew Buschak of Edinboro; Ashley Paszko and her husband, Kyle Paszko of Crossingville, PA; and Abby Buschak of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren – Hayleigh Paszko and Shelby Paszko. Additional survivors include Mona’s mother – Marjorie Burchard, of Guys Mills; four sisters – Linda Hanson and her husband Robert of Edinboro; Barbara Hill of Franklin; Laura Conaway of Guys Mills; and Patricia Oakes and her husband Todd of Guys Mills; a sister-in-law – Wanda Mikovch and her husband, Donald of Alexandria, Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father – Clair Burchard who passed away on March 17, 2014; her mother and father-in-law – William and Thora Buschak; her brother-in-law – James Conaway; and nephew – Brandon Hill.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at McLane Church of Edinboro, 12511 Edinboro Rd., Edinboro, PA 16412. The funeral and committal service will be Wednesday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m. at McLane Church of Edinboro with Reverend Brian Kelly, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Wellsburg, PA.

In tough times such as this know that we share the anguish of such a loss. There is no way to soften the feelings. These feeling help us understand how precious love and life is.
My heart goes out to all of you. As cousins we didn’t stay very close it touch, but as I am the last one in my family I know the great hole one feels in your heart. (both parents & sister have passed) Rely on your family for support and in God, He is the great comforter. know that though you are apart for a while, hope it sooths your soul to know you’ll meet again. I’m not able to come up again from Pittsburgh for the service but You all are in my prayers.
