Richard Joseph Maricle, age 69, resident of 232 Thomas Street, Cambridge Springs, PA since 1986, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA. Born on August 2, 1944 in Meadville, PA, Richard was a son of Boneta Acker Maricle and the late Daniel Maricle. He married the former Eileen Caldwell on November 27, 1965 and she survives.
A graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, Class of 1963, Richard served with the US Air Force for 22 years retiring in 1986 as a Tech Sergeant. Returning to reside in Cambridge Springs, Richard then was employed by Lord Corporation in Cambridge Springs for 18 years as a press operator.
While with the military, Richard was stationed in several countries. He continued experiencing new places by traveling and camping throughout the United States in his retirement years. A devoted husband and father, Richard particularly enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. He was a life member of American Legion Post #381 in Cambridge Springs.
Surviving Richard in addition to his wife, Eileen, and his mother – Boneta of Cambridge Springs are four children – Julie M. Breitfelder, Rick D. Maricle, and Kristopher H. Maricle all of Cambridge Springs and Leigh Ann Roberts and her husband, Chip of Middletown, PA; and four grandchildren – Sarah, Kyle, and Amy Breitfelder and Benjamin Roberts. Also included among his survivors are five sisters – Linda Francisco of Meadville, Deanna Lester and her husband, Julius; Shirley Crowl and her husband, Gerald; Janine Colvin and her companion, Buddy Williams; and Edwina Dropik and her husband, Todd all of Cambridge Springs; a brother-in-law – Nick Dasovich of Sophia, NC. Preceding Richard in death in addition to his father who died in 1993 was a sister – Suzanne Dasovich.
Friends are invited for visitation on Friday, March 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs and to a brief funeral service Saturday morning at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00. Interment will follow in Venango Cemetery with full military honors to be rendered.

I’m so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing so soon after our 50th Class Reunion last fall.
It is nice to see that so many close family members have been nearby in Cambridge to share all his years after retirement from the service.
