Myrna L. Mitchell, age 84, resident of 557 South Main Street, Cambridge Springs, PA, since 1961, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Wesbury United Methodist Community after a lengthy illness. Born on May 30, 1929 in Cambridge Springs, PA, Myrna was a daughter of the late Fay Bundy and Zetta Irene Johnson Bundy. She married Merritt J. Mitchell on November 21, 1950 and he survives.

Mitchell, Myrna L.Myrna graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1948 and in her younger years was a short order cook at the Home Restaurant in Cambridge Springs. After her marriage, she was a home maker raising her three children and providing them with good cooking and vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed canning and taking care of her family as a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Myrna was a member of the Venango United Methodist Church, a life member of Venango VFW Post #169 Auxiliary, and a member of American Legion Post #381.

Surviving Myrna in addition to her husband – “Mitch”, is a daughter – Deb Gevin and her husband, Dale Gevin of Cambridge Springs and a son – Kevin Mitchell and his wife, Daisy of Meadville. Also surviving are her six grandchildren – Christina Ewing and her husband, Reverend David Ewing of Pittsburgh; Darcie Lucas and her husband, Tom of Cambridge Springs; Ian James Mitchell of Meadville; Jason Mitchell and his wife, Kelly of Erie; and Michael Mitchell and his wife, Sarah of Chicago. In addition, five great grandchildren survive – Timothy, Matthew, Zachery, and Kaitlynn Lucas, and Merritt Anthony Mitchell; and her daughter-in-law – Marta Mitchell of Venango.

Preceding Myrna in death was a son – Bill Mitchell who died in 2011; a great granddaughter – Ashley Lucas; three brothers – George Bundy, Chuck Bundy, and Bob Bundy; and two sisters – Margaret Winnale and Juanita Landers.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 and to attend funeral services there Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Reverend David Ewing, grandson-in-law and pastor of Greenstone United Methodist Church of Bellevue, will officiate. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
