Evelyn (Evie) Maude Stillwagon, 91, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, formerly of Cambridge Springs, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Evie graduated in 1939 from Brighton High School in Boston, MA and spent her early life working for the War Department and later in Foreign Service in post-WWII Germany. Later in life, she was the Secretary to the President of Alliance College in Cambridge Springs and later as Plant Manager Secretary at Lord Corporation also in Cambridge Springs.
A daughter of the late George and Margaret (White) Smith of Boston, MA, Evie is survived by her only son, Brigadier General Mark D. Stillwagon and his wife, Lori Stillwagon of Mechanicsville, MD, and her five loving grandchildren????Victoria Judy and her husband, Jonathan; Julia Stillwagon; Jeanne Davies and her husband, Joshua; Mark Stillwagon II; and Madeline Stillwagon. She is also survived by four sisters – Elsie Butler, Helen Stine, Mitzi Meyer, and Stella MacIssac. She was preceded in death by four sisters – Florence Whipple, Jane Kavanagh, Ethel Wall, and Peggy Caulfield.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 30th from 7 to 9 pm at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, March 31st at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs with Reverend David Poulson, pastor of the Church as celebrant. Graveside service will follow. A celebration of her life will be held immediately afterward in the church hall.
We are so sorry to hear about your mom passing. I was just asking my mom about her a couple weeks ago. She was a wonderful lady. God be with you and the whole family.
