Leoda A. Peters, age 90, resident of 19797 Yankee Hill Road, Cambridge Springs, PA passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown after a 6 day stay. Born on November 7, 1923 in West Salisbury, Somerset County, PA, Leoda was a daughter of the late John L. House and Violet May Short House. She graduated from Salisbury Borough High School as part of the class of 1942. Preceding Leoda in death on October 5, 2005, was her husband, Earl Joseph Peters, Jr. whom she married on July 5, 1946.

Peters, Leoda A. For a number of years, Mrs. Peters and her late husband, Earl, enjoyed operating a small farm and caring for many different animals. Her husband’s extended career in the US Coast Guard took them both to numerous assignments across the country. Leoda enjoyed baking, cooking, and spending time with her family. In recent years, she especially enjoyed spending time with loved ones on her front porch swing.

Surviving Leoda are five children – Pam L. Petrillo of Meadville; Douglas M. Peters of Cambridge Springs; J. Randall Peters and his wife, Elaine of Cambridge Springs; Connie G. Graham of Meadville; and Traci M. Agnew and her husband, Jim of Beaver Creek, Ohio. Her grandchildren include – Heather Horne; Danelle Higgins; Michael Petrillo; Alesa Pinkerton; Brieanne Snow and her husband, Josh; Heather McFadden; Zachary Bohrer; Brendan Peters; Jason Peters; Jacob Peters ; Jared Peters; Whitney Catalano and her husband, Justin; Tristan Graham; Tommy Agnew; Jessica Hurlbert; Danae Agnew and Elijah Agnew. In addition, surviving are six great grandchildren and one great, great grandson – Tyler.

Leoda is also survived by several ????ngels????? who cared for her and her home; making it possible for her to stay in her home as she aged.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday, April 14th from 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday morning at 10:00 with Reverend David Paulson as celebrant. Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery. The family suggests that for anyone who does not care to send flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater PA Chapter, 1128 State Street, Erie, PA 16501, in Leoda?????s name.
