Patricia G. Kingen, age 74, of Mill Village, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
Born in Saegertown on March 4, 1940, Pat was one of six children of Stuart James Carr and Gertrude Manross Carr. She grew up in Saegertown and after meeting her husband, Richard K. Kingen, was married March 30, 1957 and moved to the Kingen family farm in Mill Village. Together they raised their family and operated the dairy farm.
Family was most important to Pat. She loved holidays and picnics, and any chance for her family to meet at the farm. And as a loving grandmother, she kept busy following the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat enjoyed gardening and was a longtime member of the Mill Village Presbyterian Church.
Besides her husband Richard, who died December 1, 2003, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Brown, and two brothers, Nathan and Bob Carr.
Pat was the devoted mother of five children– Brenda Wurst and husband Randy of Union City, Debra Bernik and husband Sam of Lawrence Park, Dale Kingen and wife Amy of Mill Village, Tammy Bernik and husband Mike of Union City, and Timothy Kingen and wife Melissa of Mill Village; eight grandchildren– Bobbi, Danielle, Hayley and Rachel Kingen, Holly and Clint Wurst, and Morgan and Luke Kingen; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Kerr of Mill Village, and a brother, John Carr and his wife Fern of Summit Township; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Sunday, June 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and may attend funeral services there on Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rob Willert officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Village Cemetery.
The Kingen family suggests memorial donations be made to the Mill Village Fire Department or the Mill Village Presbyterian Church.
I was devastated and shocked to hear about Pat. She seemed too young to pass away and was always so lively when I talked to her. She was such an interesting and sweet lady; I will miss her very much! We were distantly related because one of the Carr’s is my Aunt. I wish I could’ve had more time with Pat. When we talked, she always had an interest in the future humans were going to have. So we had nice discussions and I tried to share with her the Bible’s promise of a future Kingdom here on earth where there will be no suffering or badness. An example is Psalm 37: 10, 11 where it says: “Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.” This also goes hand-in-hand with another promise from God: “The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.”-John 5:28, 29. She always seemed to enjoy these promises and I hope they help the family as they have me as we all miss her! You will all be in my thoughts and prayers!
All my love,
Taneisha Burlingham
