Beryl W. Kreitz, age 86, formerly of 889 Kreitz Road, Cambridge Springs, PA passed away on June 9, 2014, at Juniper Village, Meadville after a prolonged illness. Born on December 18, 1927 in Meadville to the late Tracy and Maude Williams, Beryl was the youngest of ten children. On July 29, 1950, she married Howard Kreitz and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2011.
A lifetime member of the Cambridge Springs United Methodist Church, she was active with the UMC Morning Circle. She had served as a leader with the Cambridge Springs Girl Scout and Cub Scout programs. As a supportive wife to Howard and a dedicated mother to Douglas and Darcie, she assisted her husband in running the family dairy farm for many years. Her hobbies included cross stitching, reading, watching birds, cooking, and baking.
Beside her husband – Howard, and her parents – Tracy and Maude Williams, Beryl was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a son – Douglas Kreitz and his wife, Kelly, and their children Christian and Annie of Cummings, GA, and a daughter – Darcie A. Kreitz-Thayer and her daughter, Melina of Cambridge Springs.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Thursday, June 12, from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held there at 7:30 p.m. with Reverend Jeff Bobin, pastor of Cambridge Springs United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery on Friday, June 13, at 11:00 a.m.
