Lorrie Anne Nichols, age 56, of Saegertown, joined her Savior in heaven Friday afternoon, July 11, 2014 after an automobile accident took her life. Lorrie was born the eldest of three children, in McKeesport, PA on July 9, 1958. She attended Clairton High School and later, Cairnbrook High School, where she became homecoming queen. At a young age she quickly became known as the woman with ‘the biggest heart & the sweetest smile’, which she carried with her throughout the rest of her life. Every person she came in contact with was blessed by her joy, smile, and uplifting spirit. She attended the Nursing program at Crawford County Technical School in Meadville, and after receiving her LPN certification, continued in the nursing field, with her most recent employment at Stairways Behavioral Health.
Lorrie was known for opening up her heart and home to others–in the realm of foster parent, host parent to exchange students, and in any other way she deemed fit. The two things she held most dear to her heart were her faith and her family (and her family pretty much meant everyone). She never hesitated to say “I love you” or “let’s pray”, and often greeted anyone who entered her home with a warm hug and food. A recent favorite quote of hers was, “The happiest days of my life were when my children were born; the second happiest was when my grand baby was born.” She was dearly loved by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie Nichols; three sons: Daniel Hazen and wife Lymari, Ryan Hazen and Jacob Hazen; two daughters: Heather Hazen Womer and husband Brian, and Rachael Hazen; her parents: Robert & Beverly Pollick; two brothers: Robert Pollick and wife Linda, and Jeffrey Pollick; four nieces: Jackie Pollick, Ashleigh Pollick, Haliegh Pollick, Maddie Pollick; nephew, Stephen Pollick; and grandson, Benson Hazen, as well as several other extended loved ones.
The family will visit with friends at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral at 12:00 noon. Pastor Paul Macosko of McLane Church will officiate for the funeral service and the committal service which will follow at Venango Cemetery.
Dear Brother Bob,Beverly ,and family,
Our heartfelt prayers go out to you at this time of grief and mourning.
If you remember we attended Clairton Assembly of God in the late 60s and 70s. we lost my brother Mark in a similar accident in May 2010. He and Lorrie were the same age. They both are in the Lords arms and rejoicing in wholeness . How cool that they will recognize each other there. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn our earthly loss of our loved ones but thankful for our hope of reuniteing some day and then for ever more. (((((Hugs))))) and prayers. Dear Hazen children,
We were deeply sadened to hear of the loss of your sweet mom. We are heartbroken.
Dearest Ryan, I loved getting to know your mom through you and I miss those days of you and David running in and out of the house. I am sure your mom is in heaven and as the song goes, I can only imagine … The smile on her face as she sees Jesus and all that he has for her. This is the truth and you can rest assured that you will see her again. Stay in Christ. I will keep you and your family in my prayers for the difficult days ahead. Stop and see us if you would like, we would love to see you.
Dave, Janet, David, Steven and Jonathan Watson
Our thoughts & prayers go out to all. Everytime we would see Lorrie she would always have a beautiful smile & the love of the Lord showing through her.
God Bless all of you!

It has been some time since I have seen Lorrie, but I remember her well from FCVCS. I graduated high school with Dan. She was always so happy and loved the Lord with all her heart. I will be praying for everyone in the midst of your grieving. Keep your eyes on our heavenly Father as He alone is our hope and our salvation. Psalm 121

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a beautiful, loving and caring woman. I worked with Dan, Ryan and Heather when they were in High School. She was passionate about a lot of things, and was such a beautiful woman inside and out. My condolences to her family and her kids. You are all in my prayers. GOD BLESS you all.

I met Lorrie as a youth at Rev. Bob’s church more than 40 years ago. I never knew her well, but it’s amazing how the memory of her brings back wonderful thoughts of a loving soul. She had such a big warm smile that touched everyone she met. We’ve all been blessed in some way by God for allowing us the fellowship with his creation. Lorrie may you now rest in peace and may God grant comfort to your family.
So sorry for such a great loss to your family. My prayers are with you and I know the Lord will sustain and comfort all of you as you grieve Lorrie’s passing and find a new normal.
I’m in shock to hear about Lorrie’s passing. I went to church with her and was in youth group with her kids many years ago in Meadville. She was always smiling and was the nicest lady.
My grandfather Steve Cancilla was the pastor at the Clairton church where Bob and Beverly and family attended years ago in the 1960s. I knew Lorrie then and she was very nice. My grandmother always comlimented her and had so many nice things to say. I only saw her a few times in the last several years. She was so pretty and gone way too soon. Prayers to the family and friends at this time. May God comfort you in the coming days.
I met laurie through Jacob when he went to Head Start. They both became very dear to me. I was sad when she moved away but she always heald a spot in my heart. She was a wonderful person, and I know she is with our Lord. She and I often talked about our faith. My prayers and love goes out to her family. She loved you all and thank you for sharing her with me .
