Martin Eric Hood, age 52, resident of 21824 Cussewago Street, Venango, PA since 1993, passed away after a brief illness at Saint Vincent Health Center Erie, PA on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Born on July 8, 1962 in Pittsburgh, PA, Martin was a son of the late Thomas L. Hood and Phyllis Henry Hood. He married the former Tamara Sue Butler on June 21, 1997 and she survives.

Hood, Martin EricMartin was raised in the Pittsburgh area and graduated from Pine Richland High School in 1981. He attended Robert Morris College for two years where he received an education in business accounting. Martin was employed by several construction companies until 1988 when he received a serious work related accident which restricted his employment considerably.

He was a person of varied interests and skills included woodworking, American history, and the Constitution. His pleasure of sports included hunting and fishing, league playing of eight and nine ball pool, golf and was an enthusiastic fan of all Pittsburgh professional sports. He belonged to the National Rifleman’s Association.

As a loving husband, father and grandfather, in addition to his wife – Tamara “Tami”, Martin is survived two daughters – Beth Rice and her partner, Shawn Allison of McKean and Mindy Rice of Erie; a son – Josh Rice and his partner, Stepheny of Venango; 13 grandchildren – Kyle Allison, K.J. Rice Fisher, Shawn Allison, Kayden Allison, Brianna Allison, Kya Allison, Brandon Trapp, Tyler Trapp, Tyler Ponce, Madison Trapp, Miranda Trapp, Faith Shaffer, and Sierra Rice. Martin is also survived by a sister – Sharon Sado and her husband, Bill of Grafton, OH and a brother – Wade Hook and his wife, Rickie of New Castle.

The family is planning for a memorial picnic to be held at Country Meadows Golf Course in Venango, PA on October 4th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please come and share your memories with the family.
