Karen Lee Alterio, age 71 of Waterford, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a seven-year fight with cancer. She was born in Erie on May 26, 1943, a daughter of the late Fred Reinhold and Martha Medley Reinhold.
Karen was a 1961 graduate of Academy High School and had worked at Hamot Medical Center for 18 years as a medical secretary. In 1990, Karen and her husband Bob moved to Temple, TX where she was an apartment complex manager until moving back to Erie County in 2005. Karen enjoyed skills like making crafts, sewing and knitting. She and her husband were NASCAR fans traveling to many races in Texas, and they were Buffalo Bills fans as well.
Karen’s family includes her husband, Robert W. Alterio, whom she married May 24, 1986; two daughters, Kim King (Jerry Tromans) of Waterford, and their children Justin, Nick, and Bethany, and Kristen Steward and her husband Ron of Belton, TX and their children Skylar and Summer; also, her brother, James Reinhold and his wife Barb of Erie, and her dear Aunt Bernice Haschalk of Erie.
No funeral services are planned. Memorials may be made to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505.

I am so sorry to hear of Karen’s passing. She will be deeply missed. God must have needed another angel to wait for us on the other side. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
