Alexander Taylor, Jr., age 67, resident of 21352 Center Street Ext., Cambridge Springs, PA, passed away on Monday September 29, 2014 following a short illness. Born in Irvine, Estill County, Kentucky on April 12, 1947, Alex was a son of the late Alexander Taylor, Sr. and late Dorothy Chaney Taylor Kula. He married the former Judyth Kay Crocker on June 29, 1985 and she survives.
Alex was a mechanic by trade and worked at Midas Muffler in Erie for a number of years. In 1983 he began employment as an automobile technician with Griffin Motors in Meadville. He was employed there for over 25 years retiring in 2009. Alex appreciated being outdoors – hunting, gardening, observing birds and wildlife and took pleasure in taking pictures of the animals. He was a kind and generous person, lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a hero to his grandchildren who believed he could fix anything they brought to him. He cared for his grandchildren and family deeply.
Surviving Alex in addition to his wife, Judyth, are six children – Tammy Mott of Cambridge Springs; Tricia Evans of Pineville, SC; Lisa Ebert of Delevan, NY; Mark Taylor of Lake Helen, FL; Cathy Taylor of Deltona, FL; and Cindy Rubner of Deltona, FL. Also 13 grandchildren survive – Cory Rubner, Danielle Nolan, Todd Taylor, J. P. Mott, Jesse Mott, Sophia Mott, Michael Mott, Jesica Evans, Jaymie Evans, Bobby Evans, Hunter Ebert, Lyla Ebert, and Zoey Ebert. In addition, there are two sisters and their spouses – Carolyn and Frank Schropp of Cambridge Springs; Karen and Gary Massung of Cambridge Springs; and a brother and his spouse – Charles and Diane Taylor of Lake City who survive. He was preceded in death by a brother – Wilson Taylor, a brother – Chester Taylor, and a granddaughter Emily Mott.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Anthony of Padua in Cambridge Springs on Saturday morning at 11:00. Reverend David Poulson, pastor of the Church, will be celebrant. A dinner will follow at the Church’s social hall.
Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. 165 Beach Avenue, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403. No calling hours will be observed.
Alex was a heck of a nice guy and I’m sure going to miss him. Sorry for your loss.
