Betty Jane Carnes Finchio, age 61, of Summit Township, Erie, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh after a short illness. Born December 17, 1952 in Erie, she was a daughter of the late Harry Cash Carnes and Cora Elizabeth Young Carnes.
A loving wife, devoted mother, sister and grandmother, Betty was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed her family and pet dogs. She was a skilled seamstress and made beautiful wedding cakes. She will be remembered as a passionate, caring, and Godly woman.
Survivors include her husband Sonty J. Finchio Jr.; four children– Katrina Lynn Finchio-Hutchinson of Meadville, and Rhonda Lee Finchio-Glaser and husband Shane, Sara Ann Finchio and fianc??? Adam English, and Sonty John Finchio III and wife Clara, all of Albion; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; seven siblings– Harry Carnes Jr., Mary Hurta, David Carnes, Lyda Milligan, Robin Carnes, Virginia Wisniewski, and Brian Carnes; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Ann Finchio and a brother, Phillip Andrew Carnes.
There will be no public services. Arrangements by Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro, PA. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home or to the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Erie County.
