Marjorie Jean Harkness Lacey, age 86, resident of Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown, PA and formerly of Erie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 23, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 3, 1928 in Meadville, PA, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Andrew Leslie Frame and Daisy Belle Russell Frame. She married Dennis Carl Harkness and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1996. She subsequently married James Lacey and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2007.
Marjorie was affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and the Baptist denominations. She resided at Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown where she was known as the “Gallivant”. She loved being with people and conversing with them and knew everyone by name. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing the piano, knitting and crocheting in her spare time, and baking. Marjorie had a special love for the Lord and likewise for her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren all of whom she was very proud.
Holding many jobs throughout her life, Marjorie worked at the Foam Plastics and Alliance College in Cambridge Springs in earlier years, Penn Union in Edinboro, and at times was a Nanny. She also worked at several stores in the Meadville area until she retired.
Marjorie is survived by six children – Dennis P. Harkness and his wife, Darlene of Girard; Daniel C. Harkness and his wife, Nina of Erie; Gerald L. Harkness and his wife, Eva of Meadville; William D. Harkness of New York; Lynn Sherred and her husband, Larry of Cambridge Springs; and Karen Coon of New York. Also surviving are two sisters – Lois Coover and her husband, Merle of Arizona and Nancy Larizza and her husband, Jim of Ohio; two brothers – Les Frame and his wife, Marjorie of Arizona and Larry Frame and his wife, Admina of California. Also among survivors are 23 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. Preceding her in death in addition to her two husbands was an infant son – Gary; two grandsons – Donnie and Billy; and a great grandson – Michael.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 and may attend funeral services there on Monday morning at 11:00 with Reverend Phil Thomas, pastor of Meadville Bible Church, officiating. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
I am sorry for your loss, i am not able to attend the viewing or funeral but know that my prayers are with you all. I know your mom was a beautiful person and that she is in a much better place. My prayers are with you in this time of sadness.
