Sherry Lynn Woodward Shokry, age 41, resident of 21690 Maple Avenue, Venango, PA, went to heaven on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born on April 25, 1973 in Erie, PA, Sherry was a daughter of Walter B. Woodward and Norma Smith Woodward. She married Usama A. Shokry on August 27, 2011 and he survives.

Shokry, Sherry A graduate of Cambridge Springs High School with the Class of 1991, Sherry was active in the marching band and chorus. She continued her education receiving a degree in Psychology from Grove City College in 1995, a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from Chatham University in 1997, and a Masters Degree in Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary in 2010. Sherry was currently employed as an occupational therapist with Interim Healthcare in Meadville and a counselor with Associates in Counseling and Child Guidance in Meadville. Previously, Sherry was the Activities Director of Crawford County Care Center.

Sherry was an active member of the Venango United Methodist Church where she directed the Children’s Choir. She was a skilled musician playing the piano, keyboard, dulcimer, and flute and was an exceptionally good singer. She loved animals, especially her two cats – Oreo and Skittle.

Surviving Sherry in addition to her husband, Usama, are her parents – Walter B. and Norma Woodward of Venango; a brother – Steve Woodward and his wife, Terri of Meadville; a niece – Kylie Woodward; and a grandmother – Betty Woodward of Florida. Also two brother-in-laws – Andrew and Walied and a sister-in-law – Reham and a father-in-law – Ayoub all of Egypt; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother – Mildred Gross and her mother-in-law – Fayza, who loved her very much.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend funeral services there Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. Three pastors will officiate – Reverend Darren Barnett, Reverend Joe Samalenge, and Reverend David Ewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite #310, White Plains, NY, 10605. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
