Walter William Beier, 70, of Cambridge Springs, PA, died on November 20, 2014. Walter was born in Etna, PA on December 28, 1943, the son of the late Ernest K. Beier, Sr and the late Lauretta Henigan Beier.
Affectionately known as Walt by his wife, Dad to his children, Opa to his grandchildren and Big Wally by his friends and co-workers, he was well known for his love of the outdoors, passion for cooking/baking, his quick wit and practical jokes. After his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing on his own property, gardening, listening to audio books and spending time in the kitchen. He taught his children and grandchildren to hunt, fish and appreciate the outdoors. He was a man who enjoyed life and was always willing to help others.
Walt served in the US Army in Germany. He worked as a welder/fitter at Litton Industries, RD&D and Erie Press Systems. In 1985 he realized his dream of being able to hunt out his back door and moved the family from Holland Street in Erie to ????he Farm???? in Cambridge Springs. He will be affectionately remembered by his co-workers as ????ilo-Wally???? ???? because of his horseshoe pit plan which caused a major power outage in the spring of 1997.
Walt is survived by his wife of 48 years, Monika E. Beier, of Cambridge Springs, PA; his daughters Cynthia D. Meyer of Zelienople, PA; Laura-Ann Beier Will of Waterford, PA; Barbara M. Williams, HMC Ret. USN (Darin ????uck MCDCM SW/AW Williams) Millington, TN; and twin sons, Walter K. Beier and William A. Beier (Cambridge Springs, PA). He is also survived by five grandchildren: Jack Dylan Dwyer (active duty U.S. Navy), Alexander J. Risch (Robert Morris University), Jade E. Will, Katheryn Dobson and Rhys A. Will (students). He is further survived by his brother, Ernest K. Beier, Jr. (Martha); a nephew, Joe Beier, and a niece, Tammy-Ann Beier of Pittsburgh, PA.
No calling hours/services are scheduled. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date for his family and friends to share their memories.
I just found out about Walt’s passing. Monika, Cyndy, Laura, Barbara, Walt & Will… I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m very sad to hear about this. I have great memories of Walt as he made a positive impact on me. He was a good man and he was fun to be around… we had good laughs and he taught me how to golf. I think of him whenever I golf. Thank you, Walt!!
Thank you all for your comments. We sure will miss our dad!
To the Beier family I am so sorry for your loss! I grew up with Walt and Will my thoughts and prayers are with you all! If you all need anything please don’t hesitate to ask! My number is (814) 969-5526 Take care and God bless you all.
Dear Monika;
Joe and I were surprised to see this notice in the Erie Paper, as your husband was only 70 years old, a couple of years younger than we are. We are so very sorry about your loss, but are sure you have also many good memories, especially now, as hunting season is near again.
I still remenber you and your young family, who filled an entire pew at Trinity Lutheran, and your love for flowers and gardening. It will be a sad Thanksgiving this year, but we hope you can still appreciate some of your family members at your table.
Take care of yourself, life goes on and I am sure you are very busy as always.
All the best, Joe and Maggie Balter.
Walter and William: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father.
Keeping your family in thought and prayers. May you find strength and comfort in the good memories that you shared.

Monica and family,
So deeply saddened to read of walt’s passing. We so wanted to visit this past summer and never made it. Life is so short we are reminded to let those know that we love and appreciate them before it is too late. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Walt will be sadly missed but thankfully our happy memories will live on.
Thinking of you all during this sad time.
Julie
