Martha Eleanor Lewandowski, age 92, resident of 20099 Merritt Road, Saegertown, PA, passed away at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville, PA on Sunday, November 9, 2014, following a short illness. She had lived in Venango Township, Crawford County her entire married life and had been a resident at Wesbury since October, 2013. Born on September 13, 1922 in Pleasantville, PA, Martha was a daughter of the late R. Maxwell Watson and Mary Bell Sharp Watson. On February 27, 1942 she married George J. Lewandowski and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1996.

Lewandowski, Martha EleanorIn Martha’s earlier years she was employed at Loblaws and at American Viscose, both in Meadville. In later years she was employed at COAX Television, Inc. in Edinboro first as secretary and then as office manager. Her employment was for fifteen years, retiring August 15, 1985.

Martha dearly loved the Lord and served Him in teaching Sunday School for many years, was a Sunday School Superintendant and was a lay speaker for the United Brethren and United Methodist denominations. Presently, she was a member of Christ Evangelical Free Church of Saegertown which she and her husband, George, together with many others, founded. She was a student of the Bible and loved God’s chosen people the Jews, very much. She loved her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren so very much and continuously gave thanks to the Lord for them and always kept each of them in her prayers.

Surviving Martha are three sons – Gary George Lewandowski and his wife, Gloria of Florida, H. Michael Lewandowski and his wife, Elaine of Saegertown, and Rodney Lewandowski and his wife, Patti of Greenville; seven grandchildren – Brenda Stafford, Michael D. Lewandowski, Rick Lewandowski, Todd Lewandowski, Jeffrey Lewandowski, Matthew Lewandowski, and Aaron Lewandowski. Also surviving are twenty great grandchildren; a sister- Virginia Malanowski; two half-sisters – Joan Simmerman and Saundra Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by an infant brother – Wayne Watson, a sister – Betty Sterling; and a step mother – June Watson.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday, November 11th from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held at Christ Evangelical Free Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Jeff Wilson, pastor of the Church officiating. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
