James J. Laskey, age 72, of Edinboro, died January 21, 2015 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA. Born March 10, 1942 in Erie, he was a son of the late John Laskowski and Helen Waskiewicz Laskowski.

Laskey, James J.James served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963 and began his career of carpentry and cabinet making, continuing until 1990. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed playing golf, and in his younger days, enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling through Alaska with his family. James was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Erie.

Family members include his former wife, Shirley Gaiser of Edinboro; and four children– Joseph D. Laskey, wife Renee, and their children River and Audra, of Annapolis, MD, Robert J. Laskey, wife Dorothy, and their children Grace, Audrey, Landon, and Abbey, of San Diego, CA, Trudy A. Argue, husband Michael, and their children Olivia, Gage, and Jake, of Barrie, Ontario, and Nadine L. Guzik, husband Jay, and their children Emma and Gus, of Edinboro. James also has a brother, Robert Laskowski and his wife Mary Kay, of Skaneateles, NY.

Friends are invited to visiting hours at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place there Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Msgr. Bernard J. Urbaniak of St. Stanislaus Parish. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
