Genevieve J. Rindfuss Fox, age 99, of LeBoeuf Township, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, February 7, 2015 while in Macon, Georgia visiting her granddaughter. Born in Erie on July 4, 1915, she was one of six children of Rhinehart Schlaak and Emma George Schlaak.
Genevieve lived most of her life in the Waterford area, and many will remember that she and her husband Butch operated the former French Creek Tavern. She was a member of All Saints Parish and she enjoyed traveling to Georgia and Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank “Butch” Rindfuss; a son, George Rindfuss; a grandson, Jody Rindfuss; a great-grandson, Corey Rindfuss; three brothers, William Schlak, and Frank and Joseph Schlaak; two sisters, Mary Ignatius and Susan Runser; a son-in-law, William Chase; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Rindfuss.
Surviving family members include her three children: Fred Rindfuss of Florida, Robert Rindfuss and Carol Chase, both of Waterford; her daughter-in-law, Melissa Rindfuss of Indiana; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at which time a prayer service will begin followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Parish at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Fr. Gregory Passauer will officiate. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery.
