Jacqueline Katherine Johnston, age 71, of Waterford, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Saint Vincent Hospital. Born in Erie on September 17, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Katherine Pearl Kniessler Ball.

Johnston, Jacqueline KatherineJacqueline married Robert D. Johnston on March 3, 1962 and began raising their family in Erie before moving to Waterford in 1976. She worked for various employers over the years including Kunkle’s Taxidermy and Fort LeBoeuf School District, and she enjoyed working at Curves and was an accomplished seamstress. Her real joy in life was her family and friends. Jackie loved being outdoors and working in the sun, walking in the woods and planting trees, playing golf, and vacationing on Lake Erie. She was a member of the American Legion Post 285 Auxiliary and Asbury United Methodist Church, both in Waterford.

Those preceding her in death include her parents, her husband Robert on November 20, 2009, two brothers, Gerald and Harry Ball, her mother-in-law Mary Louise Johnston, and her brother-in-law Edgar Johnston.

Surviving family members include three children, Sandra Talkish and husband Matt of Waterford, Diane Neal and husband Bradley of Seneca Falls, NY, and Rich Johnston and fianc??? Michele Gardner of Waterford; also, five grandchildren, Matthew, Bryan, and Kelly Talkish, and Kady and Steven Neal; her beloved cat KC and granddogs Daisy and Mona; three brothers, Donald, Marty, and Bernie, and four sisters, Kathy, Terry, Denise, and Linda; a brother-in-law James Johnston, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and may attend funeral services there on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Officiating pastor is Rev. Gary Donaldson of Asbury Methodist Church.
