Dorothy Danylko died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 05, 2015, at the age of 90. She was born in Erie, PA on December 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Siemanowski) Tomasik.
Dorothy graduated from East High School in 1943 and married Stephen Danylko in 1945. Dorothy, her husband Steve, and their family operated a dairy farm for many years. She was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Church, as well as the Rosary Society. She loved reading, playing cards and bingo, and she also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Dorothy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. She always cherished family gatherings, most of all the Christmas Eve tradition of making pierogis at her house.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen Danylko (Sr.), brother, Henry Tomasik, grandson, Ronald Bryant, and son-in-law, James Bryant.
She is survived by her children: Carolyn Devenney (George), Christine Mitchell (Rodney), Stephen Danylko Jr. (Cindy), Susan Wilkosz (Philip), William Danylko (Carrie), Deborah Hafner (Steve), and Doreen Romba (Ron). She is also survived by her beloved sister, Marion Miller, sister-in-law/best friend, Jennie Dzeskewicz, her sister-in-law, Catherine Dlugolenski, sister-in-law, Bernice Bennett, her aunt, Stella LaFuria, and friend, Irene Dombrowski. She was the proud grandmother of 20 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Her loving and generous heart will be missed forever.
Friends may call at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday morning starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Gathering Space in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean. The funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Mark Nowak. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
