James G. Burdick, age 47, formerly of Waterford, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 after a lengthy illness. The son of the late James L. Burdick and Barbara Elizabeth Sanford Shonka, he was born in Erie on January 7, 1968.
After graduating from Cambridge Springs High School in 1986, Jim served as an engineer with the United States Air Force for 15 years and continued working as an engineer after his honorable discharge. Jim lived in many different places all over the world, and he loved hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Jim’s family includes his four children– Scott, Krystian, Dylan, and Ethan Burdick; two sisters– Michelle Shatto and husband Jimmy of North East, and Tonia Bohman of Erie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Real Life Assembly, 3902 West 38th Street, Erie, PA.
Jim was one of my mentors when he was with the Las Vegas Monorail Bombardier. Taught me and a lot of people a lot. He was a true friend, will miss him Bubba as we call him here at the Las Vegas Monorail. May his soul rest in peace and God bless.

Jimmy was a great guy, he would call me from Las Vegas and we would yak for an hour, he was so intelligent. I will really miss him, I am so sorry he’s gone.
