Shayna L. Haight, age 37, died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home in Waterford on Friday, September 25, 2015. Born in Erie on November 15, 1977, she is the daughter of Joseph H. and Brenda Kaye Briggs Haight.
Shayna graduated from Fort LeBoeuf High School in 1996, and after recovering from Leukemia at an early age, she volunteered her time working at Millcreek Community Hospital and a Day Care in Waterford. She was talented at jewelry-making and was very generous in giving away the jewelry she had made. Shayna was a soft-hearted and giving person who loved her family very much and her best buddy, Pongo the Chihuahua.
In addition to her parents, Joe and Brenda, she is survived by her sister, Shelly Haight Fry and husband Michael of Meadville; her brothers, Matthew T. Stempka and Chris J. Stempka, both of Waterford; her grandmother, Violet Haight; three nieces, Kinzie, Patience, and Chandler; two great-nieces, Nevaeh and Savanna, and a great-nephew, Dereck; her uncle Mark Briggs, and two very special friends, Roger Scott and Kathy Coyle.
Shayna is preceded in death by her grandmother and friend, Minnie Briggs Baughman, her grandfather, Amer Haight, and her uncle, Dennis Haight.
Friends are invited to call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Mr. Daryl Boleratz, will take place at the funeral home Friday at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Waterford Cemetery.
Memorials will be accepted by the family.
